Sefer Torah Dedication

The response from everyone over the last few days has truly been a tremendous Chizzuk to us all. So many of us grew so much in our Avodas Hashem from Rotty’s unique love for Talmud Torah. Whenever we needed a short vort on the Parsha, we went straight to Rotty. He was a walking Sefer Torah, who was always there to share and hear Torah ideas. Chazal in many places compare a Jewish soul to a Sefer Torah. Just like one tears Kriyah when a precious soul passes away, so too one tears Kriyah when witnessing the burning of a Sefer Torah. As a result, what greater act can we all do than by writing a Sefer Torah in Rotty’s memory as a gift to his beloved family? What greater nechama to the Rottenstreichs than to write a Sefer Torah in memory of David, and in honor of the Torah and Mitzvos to which he dedicated his life?

Please donate whatever you can, even if it’s a small amount. Echad haMarbeh, Vi’echad haMamit, Bilvad SheYichavein Libo LaShamayim. May our acts of kindness be a zchus for Rotty’s neshama.

To participate you can pay through paypal by clicking HERE or by sending money or checks, made out to Marc Zeffren, with a note saying David's Sefer, to:

  1. Baruch Dayan Emes
Dont think for a second that our tefillos went unanswered, Hashem is "Notzer Chesed L'alafim" and somehow sometime in someway our tefillos and learning had and will have an incredible impact on klal yisrael and on Rottys neshama as Dovid Chaim A"H stands up in din before Hakodosh Baruch Hu.
Sometimes Hashem does things as a wake up call to a community or even a nation. Without a doubt we have all done tremendous things over the past few days as far as tefilah and learning however we must not stop, we must take this as an alarm to do t'shuva so I"YH we will be zocha to see the geula and tchiat hameitim bimhaira biyamanu amen.
Rotty well miss you, your smile lit up the room and your caring lit up the world. If i could only have let you known how special of a person I thought you were...Baruch Dayan Emes

  2. Rotty- Over the years that I knew you, I really can not thank you enough for how you've affected my life. The way you were so set and structured in your Avodas Hashem and how true you were to yourself really showed me the way a true ben-Torah should act. It's very hard understand that you are not with us anymore, but Im certain we can all remember so many positive acts that you have done and that we can strengthen those acts in our lives and give your neshama the Aliyah it deserves.

  3. I never knew David Rottenstreich, but am friends with many people who were close with him. I am quite moved to see the outpouring of support and dedication to Torah and Mitzvos that emerged from this awful tragedy, and it makes me think that "Klal Yisrael" still means something in this day and age.

    Baruch Dayan HaEmes

  4. To think that Rotty is never going to walk into my house again and say 'Hey Rebbitzin' in his deep voice is to much right now. It's his smile that I can't get out my head, did he ever not smile?

We feel very far away from the guys right now, but we are thinking of you all and of course Rotty's family.

Every experience that ever comes our way is designed to meet our spritual needs at that time. This terrible situation woke Yonatan and I up.

Use every second for goodness and kindness. You can always be in a bad mood, be in a good one instead.

I just heard something beautiful, as we are about to say Brachat HaHama, when ever you are feeling alone, look up, feel Hashem's warmth, and remember there is never a moment in life when Hashem is not with us, however dark it seems.

    With much love

    Nechama Emmett

  5. kol hakavod! Writing a sefer Torah in someone's memory and fulfiling the mitzvah of kriat hatorah from it is a great zechut for the niftar!
